Abstract

Objectives. The workers’ posture is referred to as the position of the body adopted by a worker while performing work tasks. In addition to causing physical discomfort, forced posture at work can result in long-term health issues and reduced productivity.

Methods. The literature review was conducted in order to identify and synthesize the influence of poor body posture during work on worker’s health.

Results. Numerous studies suggest that workers from various industries may develop musculoskeletal diseases as a result of forced or improper posture. Musculoskeletal disorders are a common cause of reduced quality of life and increased temporary work incapacity and disability. Forced body posture is also associated with depression in workers.

Conclusions. Research indicates a correlation between forced posture at work and health issues or disorders affecting employees.
