The aim of the study is to assess the population's level of awareness regarding the risks and factors associated with stroke (AVC), as well as the recognition of its symptoms, to support the development of prevention and public health education strategies.
Materials and Methods. The research was based on a prospective selective descriptive study, utilizing historical, sociological, and statistical methods. The study sample consisted of 1500 individuals aged 35 to 70, from various regions of the country. Data was collected through structured questionnaires, applied directly during face-to-face interviews. Statistical analysis was conducted using Excel and FOX PRO software.
Results. The study revealed a low level of knowledge regarding the risk factors of stroke, with 60.2% of participants lacking proper knowledge. The most frequently mentioned risk factor was stress (30.7%), while others, such as dietary, behavioral, and environmental factors, were underestimated. Additionally, 56.8% of interviewees did not recognize the typical symptoms of stroke, which could lead to delayed interventions. The majority of information sources were personal experiences (37.3%) and family doctors (25.4%).
Conclusion. The study highlights the need for more effective education and information for the population about stroke risks and the importance of early recognition of symptoms, in order to improve interventions and stroke prevention.
