Vol. 96 No. 3 (2025)The collective of the 2nd Department of Surgery at the "Nicolae Testemițanu" SUMPh offers medical staff, residents, and students practical recommendations that address various surgical pathologies, systematizing the aspects of diagnosis and treatment in this field. The main purpose is to assist surgeons in choosing the best management strategies for each patient, based on data from the specialty literature and accumulated experience. The paper, presented in a concise, systematized, and updated manner, represents a methodological support that provides quick access to essential knowledge for each clinical situation and for each individual condition. Classic and modern data are reviewed to present a high-performance way of approaching surgical cases, based on the latest available scientific evidence. The goal is to standardize diagnosis and treatment through strategies capable of ensuring high-quality medico-surgical assistance with an advantageous cost/efficiency ratio. We sought to address within this paper the themes and subjects useful to general surgeons, as well as the topics of ultra-specialization in hepatobiliopancreatic, endocrine, cardiovascular, colorectal, and thoracic surgery. The merit of the paper also lies in the approach of borderline subjects, extremely useful to the general surgeon. In this sense, the topics include the analysis of themes referring to the individualized perioperative recovery program and the response to treatment to support and reflect the development of the modern practitioner and the guiding education necessary for the multi-professional team. We are sure that this paper will be useful to those who have concerns in the field of surgery, who will find judiciously structured material regarding diagnostic strategies and therapeutic conduct for a great diversity of affections in the activity of surgical assistance.
The recent approaches in surgery, concisely presented in these recommendations, in a simplified and accessible scientific manner for all specialists in the field, are also addressed to resident doctors who are in the full process of professional training. We hope that these recommendations will be appreciated as useful in the formation of medical thinking and will represent a considerable help to students during their university studies. -
