STUDY OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH HAZARDS AMONG INDUSTRY WORKERS

Abstract

Objectives. Workers in industry and agriculture continue to be exposed to occupational hazards despite improved working conditions. The study aims to identify occupational health hazards among industrial workers in the municipality of Chisinau and the relevant main development framework. This article uncovers the frequency of exposure to occupational hazards by identifying how strategies can be improved and barriers removed for industrial workers to meet occupational health and safety requirements.

Material and methods. A retrospective descriptive cross-sectional study of the exposure of employees in the municipality of Chisinau to occupational risk factors was carried out. The rating of occupational hazards, implemented occupational health and safety policies, barriers and quality improvement strategies for occupational health and safety were identified.

Results. In most industrial enterprises there are occupational health and safety policies (occupational health and safety provisions, guidelines and regulations) specified in the collective labor agreement. In micro and small enterprises there is a limited number of occupational health and safety specialists who monitor the working conditions and health status of the worker at their workplace.

Conclusions. The researchers concluded that occupational health and safety compliance issues and concerns among industrial workers need to be properly addressed by immediate monitoring and reassessment of staff regarding their occupational health and safety knowledge and practices. The barriers and challenges identified in the study and their appropriate resolution can lead to better compliance with occupational health requirements.
